WHAT'S NEW
He joined MAMP in 1982 and stood on the board for two years before his health would no longer allow it. He has been a meat cutter since being discharged from the US Army in 1972. In 1973, he started as a meat cutter with Gerbes, where he retired from in 2006 after 33 years with them.
William “Bill” Crane started his small home base meat shop in a small room off their home in 1980 where he, his wife Linda, daughter Christina and son John all worked together a few nights each week. In 1982 they built a stand-alone shop with the latest addition of a small retail shop in 2022. Bill enjoys working in his shop of three generations as his grandsons also work side by side with him each day. Their shop has several local farmers which they process several head of beef and hogs for all year, along with custom and Missouri State Inspection and let’s not forget the best time of the year, Deer Season. Bill has built an amazing business with a great number of return customers that keeps this shop doing what it does best, “taking care of the folks”.
When Bill is not cutting meat or being “THE BOSS” he enjoys fishing with his son, John and riding horses with his wife, Linda. His daughter, Chris gets that everyday meat shop time with “THE BOSS” which she says is the best of all. He has been very active and supportive of the local Rodeo in Ashland for over 20 years.
Bill is a hard-working man who takes great proud in his business and his family. He works at teaching his kids and grandsons all that he can so they can continue in his footsteps in the years to come. Bill’s family is so proud of him and getting put into the MAMP hall of fame is a great honor.
